Musical Explorations Happy Hour | The Story of the Oboe with Lewes Public Library

Bring your favorite beverage and connect with fellow music lovers through this program co-sponsored by the Library and Coastal Concerts.

Drawing on his many years of professional playing experience, Lani Spahr will explore the oboe from its beginnings in the 17th century through its development up to today.

Lani Spahr is well known to Coastal Concerts audiences for his charismatic and very informative pre-concert talks. An expert and virtuoso on period and modern oboes, Lani was a member of Boston Baroque and the Handel & Haydn Society Orchestra of Boston and he also performed frequently with Tafelmusik in Toronto, as well as orchestras across the United States.

His years of work on Sir Edward Elgar’s recorded legacy, for which he has been awarded Honorary Membership in the Elgar Society, continues to receive world-wide critical praise. Lani served on the faculties of Colorado College, Phillips Exeter Academy, and the New Hampshire Chamber Music Institute. He is a member of the Board of Coastal Concerts and is also an international award winning audio restoration engineer, writer, and producer.
